How to Create Pen Pal Letters
It's February! And where I live winter means there's usually snow, and this year there is LOTS. The polar vortex brought tons of snow to my state and so I've had this entire past week of school off. Having time off of school is great and all don't get me wrong, but there's only so much you can do in your house before you get bored. And that's exactly what happened to me, I was bored and so I decided to make a blog post. But then another thing kept me from making one, the question of what would the post be centered on.
I started browsing Pinterest and YouTube hoping I would be inspired. And I was, I remembered how a few of my favorite YouTube channels for crafts and the like, would do things like studio vlogs and stuff where they showed the process of making a pen pal letter. I always thought it would be fun and interesting to have a pen pal or just to write someone a nice letter in general. So that's precisely what I did. I wrote a letter to a good friend who lives in a different state than I and that I don't see very often. So in this blog post, I'll be showing you the steps I took that you can take when writing your own letter and I'll give you ideas of what to include in the letter.
To start off, there are a few things that you'll need to write a basic letter. A few things you can use (but aren't limited to) are:
Next, I simply wrote the letter! A few ideas of what you can write about are as follows:
Following that, I added a few other little things. I first typed up a poem I like by Wilder and printed it. Then I added some watercolor art to the poem that I thought went with the theme of the poem. Then I looked up quotes, found one that I liked and wrote it out and added a little design. Finally, I painted a simple flower just as a little piece of original art. You can paint, write, draw anything really and add anything along to the letter. You don't even have to add anything but the letter! I just thought it would be nice to add a few extra things.
To finish the letter you can fold it so it will fit in the envelope, tuck anything extra into the letter and then address the envelope, stamp it, and send it out! I also decided to tie a little string around the letter before putting it in the envelope just to keep things together better.
If you decide to write a pen pal letter, let me know how it turns out!
